LYNX Technik AG announces its greenMachine® is the recipient of NewBay’s Best of Show Award, presented at the 2017 NAB Show by TV Technology.

NewBay’s Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry.

greenMachine titan, LYNX Technik’s second hardware platform for the greenMachine solution was honored with the Best of Show award. Titan is a four-channel hardware device that complements the existing greenMachine callisto, a two-channel signal processing hardware appliance. Titan simultaneously processes four 3G/HD/SD-SDI video streams or a single 4K/UHD video input. It offers up to 12G processing support (3840 x 2160 @60 Hz) and also provides the functionality to convert between single-link 4K video (12G) and quad-link 4K video (4x3G).

Titan and all greenMachine hardware are compact self-contained general purpose A/V processing platforms designed to host a wide variety of applications or APPs.

Being fully APP driven, the greenMachine titan will enable a smooth transition from an HD to UHD world. Broadcasters can use titan with their 3G-infrastructure today and upgrade to 4K-12G with a mouse-click.

Full functionality of the greenMachine titan is designed and built by the user stringing together APPs from the LYNX greenStore®. APPs are modular and function-specific and can be mixed and matched to reconfigure greenMachine to suit virtually any application. As new APPs will be constantly added to the greenStore, this enables the hardware investment to be easily adapted into new applications as required… making greenMachine truly future-proof.

LYNX Technik AG announces a new yellobrik, an SDI/HDMI to H.264 encoder for live streaming & recording.

The PEC 1864 H.264 encoder provides a solution for users to simultaneously stream content while recording it, an ideal solution for delivering, streaming and archiving content efficiently and affordably. The module houses two independent encoders; a stream encoder and a record encoder. Users can stream content with simultaneous recording, stream-only, or record-only. The independent encoders support different quality settings for the streamer and the recorder. For example: a user may wish to simultaneously stream content directly to the web in lower quality due to limited bandwidth, and record at a higher master quality for further editing or archiving.

The yellobrik accepts either an SDI or an HDMI input supporting up to 3G (1080p @60 Hz) and compresses it using the H.264 encoding standard. It supports a variety of popular streaming outputs including RTMP for streaming to Content Delivery Networks. Using this streaming format, a user enters their CDN log-in credentials into the yellobrik’s web-browser based GUI, and streams the content live on their CDN Channel; e.g. Wowza, YouTube, Facebook.

The PEC 1864 also supports RTP/RTSP streaming, TS over UDP and TS over RTP. These three steaming formats can be configured as unicast or multicast. A forward error correction (FEC) can be activated for the TS over RTP stream. In addition, the PEC 1864 supports the HLS (HTTP Live) streaming protocol.

The module records to a micro SD memory card or USB stick as a .mp4 or .ts.

Two channels of audio are deembedded from the incoming video signal, which can then be embedded into the streamed and/or recorded video signal. An alternative audio source is provided via the stereo audio input.

Each video encoder includes a region of interest (ROI) scaler, enabling the user to crop the image and stream/record only that portion of the image. Users can even insert a logo into the content stream, ideal for branding & copywriting content and when the Content Delivery Network provider doesn’t provide a logo insertion tool.

Lynx Technik has enhanced its yellobrik series with three new single link SDI 12G capable modules. A fiber transmitter (OTX 1410), fiber receiver (ORX 1400) and fiber transceiver (OTR 1410).

LYNX Technik’s already extensive line-up of fiber optic transport solutions are now augmented with three new solutions that provide error-free transmitting and receiving of 12G (4096 x 2160 @60 Hz), plus 6G, and 3G signals if required, all with full uncompressed video quality. All modules provide support for a maximum distance of approximately 10 Km using LC singlemode fiber.

The complete video payload, (including any embedded audio and metadata) is converted and transmitted transparently over fiber. No settings are needed as the modules auto detect the video standard (12G, 6G or 3G) and adapt accordingly for complete plug and play functionality.

As with all yellobriks, they are intuitive and easy to use with all connections clearly indicated on the module. They are fully compatible with the unique yellobrik rack frame and all standard yellobrik accessories.

The 12G capable yellobriks help facilitate and support 4K infrastructure applications that send and receive content with exceptionally high data rates. They are perfect additions to the LYNX Technik 4K yellobrik portfolio, which also includes the self-contained quad link 4K fiber transmission kits that support 4x SDI signals (12G uncompressed).

At IBC, Motama has introduced RelayCaster One for reliable, secure and cost-effective contribution of live content over public Internet. The small embedded unit comes at one-time costs of 995 Euro and supports live streams in SD, HD and UHD.

RelayCaster One uses Motama’s award-winning solution for fixing packet loss rates of 25% and more. This enables broadcast-grade contribution over unmanaged long-distance Internet links and offers a cost-effective alternative to satellite links, dedicated links, fiber or CDN services.

RelayCaster One can be used as a pair of sender and receiver, or combined with Motama’s RelayCaster rack-mountable servers (1U) or software-only solutions for the cloud for multi-point-to-multi-point contribution.

Motama has also demonstrated its next-generation transcoding servers for live content. The CodecCaster NG product line supports IP based live transcoding for MPEG-2, AVC/H.264 and HEVC/H.265 formats with direct export of DVB compliant UDP multicast streams and Internet/OTT protocols. The new 1U and 3U servers offer up to 40% increase in performance at 0% increase in pricing.

These products are complemented with TVCaster (DVB gateways) and PolyCaster (OTT streaming servers).

LIVE+ Core 4.1 enables IP output from a LIVE+ Broadcast Server in the MPEG-TS format as an alternative to standard SDI playout. Dejero users can easily set the desired output on the Broadcast Server directly from LIVE+ Control, Dejero’s cloud-based management system.

This latest update allows broadcast crews in the field to use their LIVE+ EnGo mobile transmitters to create a ‘hotspot’, connecting all their devices to the Internet to support editing, fact checking and communication while in remote locations. Crews no longer need to carry an additional portable hotspot or pocket router.

This latest version of LIVE+ Core also supports multichannel audio. This enables more audio inputs from a variety of microphones, or allows transmitting of multiple languages. The software is now capable of supporting two, four or eight channels of audio, and features a proprietary prioritization algorithm that intelligently manages bandwidth to preserve video quality as the number of audio channels increases.

The update also enables broadcasters to transmit up to 20 Mb/s over Ethernet to maintain the highest possible video quality. This is particularly useful for high motion action shots. These new features are in addition to the closed captioning capability, enhanced congestion control functionality, and GV STRATUS integration added to Core 4.0 released earlier this year.
