LYNX Technik Launches H.264 Streaming & Recording yellobrik

LYNX Technik AG announces a new yellobrik, an SDI/HDMI to H.264 encoder for live streaming & recording.

The PEC 1864 H.264 encoder provides a solution for users to simultaneously stream content while recording it, an ideal solution for delivering, streaming and archiving content efficiently and affordably. The module houses two independent encoders; a stream encoder and a record encoder. Users can stream content with simultaneous recording, stream-only, or record-only. The independent encoders support different quality settings for the streamer and the recorder. For example: a user may wish to simultaneously stream content directly to the web in lower quality due to limited bandwidth, and record at a higher master quality for further editing or archiving.

The yellobrik accepts either an SDI or an HDMI input supporting up to 3G (1080p @60 Hz) and compresses it using the H.264 encoding standard. It supports a variety of popular streaming outputs including RTMP for streaming to Content Delivery Networks. Using this streaming format, a user enters their CDN log-in credentials into the yellobrik’s web-browser based GUI, and streams the content live on their CDN Channel; e.g. Wowza, YouTube, Facebook.

The PEC 1864 also supports RTP/RTSP streaming, TS over UDP and TS over RTP. These three steaming formats can be configured as unicast or multicast. A forward error correction (FEC) can be activated for the TS over RTP stream. In addition, the PEC 1864 supports the HLS (HTTP Live) streaming protocol.

The module records to a micro SD memory card or USB stick as a .mp4 or .ts.

Two channels of audio are deembedded from the incoming video signal, which can then be embedded into the streamed and/or recorded video signal. An alternative audio source is provided via the stereo audio input.

Each video encoder includes a region of interest (ROI) scaler, enabling the user to crop the image and stream/record only that portion of the image. Users can even insert a logo into the content stream, ideal for branding & copywriting content and when the Content Delivery Network provider doesn’t provide a logo insertion tool.

PHABRIX releases vectorscope and waveform on its new Qx

Based upon a new technological platform in order to cope with the larger bandwidths of the new UHDTV formats, PHABRIX will has released a range of added features which are standard on the V1 release of the Qx – these include waveforms, vectorscope, additional standards support, reference timing, pathological patterns (including 6G/12G), enhanced Dataview window plus audio monitoring with channel select for listening.

Since its launch the PHABRIX Qx has established itself as a leading test and measurement instrument for broadcast formats up to UHDTV 4K. Able to both generate and analyse simultaneously, the Qx provides accurate SMPTE standard test patterns from its sophisticated on-board generator which can be instantaneously analysed as part of a closed loop process.

In its application within broadcast manufacturing the Qx has its trade marked RTE ‘Real Time Eye’ which continues to impress with automated measurements, visibility of overshoot and undershoot, jitter timing and alignment meters and histograms. This combined with a separate jitter waveform display with decade jitter filters enables the Qx to help identify problems early in product development.

The Qx is also available without the physical layer toolset where it is more focussed on establishing correct UHDTV transmission within broadcast infrastructures.

LYNX Technik Launches 12G Capable yellobriks

Lynx Technik has enhanced its yellobrik series with three new single link SDI 12G capable modules. A fiber transmitter (OTX 1410), fiber receiver (ORX 1400) and fiber transceiver (OTR 1410).

LYNX Technik’s already extensive line-up of fiber optic transport solutions are now augmented with three new solutions that provide error-free transmitting and receiving of 12G (4096 x 2160 @60 Hz), plus 6G, and 3G signals if required, all with full uncompressed video quality. All modules provide support for a maximum distance of approximately 10 Km using LC singlemode fiber.

The complete video payload, (including any embedded audio and metadata) is converted and transmitted transparently over fiber. No settings are needed as the modules auto detect the video standard (12G, 6G or 3G) and adapt accordingly for complete plug and play functionality.

As with all yellobriks, they are intuitive and easy to use with all connections clearly indicated on the module. They are fully compatible with the unique yellobrik rack frame and all standard yellobrik accessories.

The 12G capable yellobriks help facilitate and support 4K infrastructure applications that send and receive content with exceptionally high data rates. They are perfect additions to the LYNX Technik 4K yellobrik portfolio, which also includes the self-contained quad link 4K fiber transmission kits that support 4x SDI signals (12G uncompressed).

LYNX Technik Enhances yellobrik Frame Synchronizer with Converter & Scaler Functionality

Lynx has added up/down/cross and aspect ratio conversion, with scaler functionality to its popular yellobrik Frame Synchronizer, the PVD 1800. The major upgrade to the PVD 1800 is included at no additional cost, and any existing user can get the firmware update by simply downloading the latest version of yelloGUI from the LYNX Technik website. The yelloGUI control software has also been upgraded, which provides a suite of new tools for the control and configuration of the new features via a PC or MAC.The new up/down/cross converter with scaler offers high quality conversion for facilities that operate in multiple formats (3G/HD/SD-SDI) and need to convert between those video formats.
The PVD 1800 upgrade also includes an aspect ratio converter function to change the aspect ratio of a video signal by converting to letterbox/pillarbox, center cut, stretch to fill, 14:9 as well as custom conversions. The conversion utilities of this module are accessed via the yelloGUI software, where all the settings and functions can be monitored and controlled simply and intuitively.

The scaler adds a region of interest (ROI) tool enabling the user to crop a specific region from the original video signal and scale it to be viewed as full size on the SDI output. This is a valuable tool when video signals require customization for output and display. With this feature, the user has full control over the input signal cropping as well as the sizing of the output signal display.
The new scaler feature comes with a fast scale mode which can reduce the processing delay to less than 10 lines. This is especially important for applications that require a short processing delay and rapid conversion. When activating the fast scale mode, the module’s frame synchronization functionality will be automatically deactivated.

The PVD 1800 yellobrik frame synchronizer offers the ultimate in flexibility for users because it provides a multi-faceted solution in a thrown down brick form factor, addressing multiple applications. For larger integrated systems, up to 14 PVD 1800 yellobriks can be mounted into the yellobrik 19” rack mount chassis.

The flexible architecture of the PVD is unique to the marketplace in that it offers a full set of broadcast performance & features in a brick-style modular solution, at a competitive price-point. This combination makes it ideal for demanding studio, outside broadcast applications, post production, as well as professional audio video. Essentially, any environment that frame synchronization and conversion with scaling is required.

Dejero Previewed LIVE+ Core with New Features at IBC2016

LIVE+ Core 4.1 enables IP output from a LIVE+ Broadcast Server in the MPEG-TS format as an alternative to standard SDI playout. Dejero users can easily set the desired output on the Broadcast Server directly from LIVE+ Control, Dejero’s cloud-based management system.

dejero-4-1-tevios

This latest update allows broadcast crews in the field to use their LIVE+ EnGo mobile transmitters to create a ‘hotspot’, connecting all their devices to the Internet to support editing, fact checking and communication while in remote locations. Crews no longer need to carry an additional portable hotspot or pocket router.

This latest version of LIVE+ Core also supports multichannel audio. This enables more audio inputs from a variety of microphones, or allows transmitting of multiple languages. The software is now capable of supporting two, four or eight channels of audio, and features a proprietary prioritization algorithm that intelligently manages bandwidth to preserve video quality as the number of audio channels increases.

The update also enables broadcasters to transmit up to 20 Mb/s over Ethernet to maintain the highest possible video quality. This is particularly useful for high motion action shots. These new features are in addition to the closed captioning capability, enhanced congestion control functionality, and GV STRATUS integration added to Core 4.0 released earlier this year.

LYNX introduces a new green game changer – the greenMachine

greenMachine is a completely new concept adopting a three prong approach to product definition and function. Rather than being a fixed application specific box, greenMachine is a combination of general purpose hardware, downloadable APPs for customizable functionality and powerful control software.

greenMachine TEVIOSbest-of-show

With greenMachine, the industry has a way to reimagine their approach to purchasing, upgrading and building a foundation of signal processing solutions for any broadcast or professional video application. greenMachine explores the innovation surrounding infrastructure efficiency, as well as truly future-proofing a technology investment.

First, a user selects a hardware processing platform (or platforms), which are essentially inactive signal processing appliances with a variety of I/O connections and internal processing channels.

Functionality is then added by purchasing and downloading APPs from the LYNX online greenStore™. APPs can be mixed, matched and combined to customize and reconfigure greenMachine to suit virtually any application. New APPs will be constantly added to the greenStore, which enables the hardware to be easily reconfigured, adapted and upgraded into new applications as required.

The final component is greenGUI, an incredibly powerful control software application providing intuitive graphic editing and visualization tools to facilitate the navigation, configuration and control off all the connected greenMachines in a system. greenGUI is complementary to all greenMachine users.

An entire system(s) can be visualized in a “greenUniverse,” which shows all greenMachine hardware and installed APPs. It provides a complete system view, from a global perspective all the way down to intricate signal connection details with just a click and spin of a mouse.
