While offering more engaging and realistic viewing for audiences, HDR and WCG also bring additional challenges with respect to the management of video brightness and color space for broadcasters and technology manufacturers.

To address these issues the PHABRIX Qx Series of rasterizers offer an advanced set of visualization, analysis and monitoring tools for HDR and WCG enabled facilities.

Comprehensive HDR Analysis Toolset

The Qx Series advanced HDR toolset includes a signal generator, CIE chart, Luma false color highlighting or “heat map”, and cd/m2 (nits) scales and markers on the waveform monitor.

False Color Highlighting

A programmable ‘Heat Map’ to highlight luminance zones allowing for the quick identification of Highlights, Shadows, Skin-tones and Out-of-range regions, with 7 simultaneous programmable color overly bands and the ability to select pre-configured presets for both SDR and HDR in addition to the creation of custom user defined preset layouts.

A Wide Range of Test Patterns

An extensive set of test patterns include BT.2111 HDR color bars for HLG, PQ, and SR Live as well as a full set of SDR 709 patterns mapped via ‘display light’ to each of the four HDR formats for line checks, comparative monitor set-up and the evaluation of HDR to SDR converters.

Extensive Format Support

All the main broadcast SDR and HDR production formats are supported: Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) BT.709, BT.2020 as well as HDR BT.2100 HLG, PQ and Sony S-Log3 and SR Live.

New 24” Full HD LCD Quad-Split Monitor by Craltech Now Available!

Craltech recently launched a new model of its professional 24” Full HD LCD Quad-Split monitors. Not only is this upgraded solution packed with necessary features, it is also 3GSDI with 900cd/m2, 3DLUT, and HDR.

Like all of Craltech’s Quad-Split monitors, the 24” is cost-effective and features wide viewing angles. They offer maximum flexibility and minimum delay – only 20ms, the same delay as a professional standalone monitor. The professional broadcasting adjustments included in the quad-split monitors range from UMD and Tally to Blue Only, Aspect Ratio Selection, Markers, Real-time color waveform and Vectorscope, color temperature adjustment (5600K, 6500K, 9300K, and RGB Gain & Bias adjustment) and beyond.

LYNX Technik to launch greenMachine Static HDR Converter

At this year’s NAB Show, LYNX Technik AG® will be launching a static HDR/SDR Converter for its greenMachine processing platform.

The greenMachine Static HDR provides a powerful conversion and processing tool that will ensure the rich and high dynamic range imagery and enhanced color gamut captured by HDR cameras gets successfully delivered to the viewing audience.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) is important in today’s modern workflow as it offers viewers enhanced contrast and increased brightness plus more vibrant color, creating a superior image to current standard HD and 4K UHD signals. Not only does the greenMachine HDR static conversion solution provide this enhanced viewing experience, it also allows users to mix SDR and HDR production in a single real-time workflow.

Through sophisticated algorithms and the automated application of color and contrast corrections, the adaptive and universal greenMachine HDR Converter supports real-time static HDR conversion between SDR and HDR, HDR and SDR, and between different HDR standards delivering greatly enhanced images.

The greenMachine HDR Converter operates in both single channel (12G SDI 4K UHD) and 4-channel mode (3G SDI 1080p). Furthermore, it provides video frame synchronization, full audio support and 4K/UHD up/down conversion with cross-conversion also being available in the 4K single channel mode.

The included CustomControl software driven by the greenGUI interface offers a simplified control interface and all color and contrast parameters in the HDR conversion process. greenMachine HDR is compatible with greenMachine titan 4-channel hardware and, like all greenMachine Constellations (configurations) can be controlled and monitored remotely via third party master control software.
