Presenting the BMG Media Stream Analyzer by Providius

The Broadcast Monitoring Gateway (BMG) by Providius is a high density analysis platform – the 24/7 eyes & ears of both video service and delivery network.

Acquire, decode, and analyze a wide variety of media flows across multiple high-capacity IP interfaces (up to 100Gb/s) including:

  • Uncompressed Production Formats SMPTE 2110 (all parts), 2022-6/-7
  • Compressed Formats MPEG-2 TS, H.264, HEVC, JXS, NDI*

As Providius explains, the BMG “incorporates the essential analysis and decoding processing necessary to alert the operation tiers of service and packet transport related impairments for production, linear and adaptive bitrate (ABR) defined services.” Packets are processed for service compliance while analyzing the conditions of the delivery network. This dual-focused analysis approach provides a clear demarcation between video delivery and video processing. It drastically reduces the mean time to repair (MTTR), eliminating finger-pointing between transport and processing departments.

AMWA NMOS + 25G PCAP Tools for PHABRIX Qx Series

The Qx Series of advanced rasterizers by PHABRIX includes a comprehensive feature set that supports HD/3G/6G/12G-SDI, 10G/25G IP interfaces, and HD/UHD, IP SMPTE 2022-6, SMPTE 2110-10/20/30/31/40 with ST 2022-7 and AMWA NMOS.

Thanks to the flexible architecture of the QxL, easily upgrade for SDI-UHD/4K, 2110-UHD/4K 48-60p RGB (EUHD), PCAP, Dolby E Decode, HDR, AV test signal generation and engineering grade data view & ANC packet inspection tools. RTE™ realtime SDI eye and jitter analysis is available as a hardware option with an advanced SDI-STRESS toolset upgrade also available.

Two specific features of the Qx Series are the AMWA NMOS toolset and the 25G PCAP Tool.

AMWA NMOS TOOLSET

As PHABRIX explains, “a suite of AMWA NMOS tools provide flexibility when integrating with an NMOS controller & associate network Topology. Supported protocols: IS-04 v1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 IS-05 1.02, 1.1 and IS-09 PTP domain. Provision of both in-band and out-of-band control topologies with manual, mDNS, DNS-SD and DHCP.” Independently configure Senders and Receivers as single or dual NMOS end points.

25G PCAP TOOL

This optional toolset provides full line-rate capture at 25Gbps on a single interface (back-to-back packets). Capture data simultaneously on one or both media interfaces.

  • User control of packet capture size
  • Manual Start-Stop, Auto Start-Stop at specified time, Capture Start Delay
  • User controls for auto stop (no. of packets, file size, duration)
  • Saves to USB (option of Browser File transfer off unit)
  • 4GB PCAP max. file size (on QxL)

PHABRIX Qx Series Software Release V4.5

The latest V4.5 software release for the PHABRIX Qx Series of hybrid IP/SDI, 4K/UHD and HDR/WCG rasterizers is here!

This free upgrade enhances the Qx Series’ existing ST 2110 NMOS toolset. It adds generation and transmission capabilities as well as enhanced configuration controls for the QxL. The release also features NMOS node status overviews plus access to an IS-05 JSON tree view for the Qx and the QxL.

Overall new features and support for extended UHD formats include:

  • Selectable Analysis of Ancillary time code type: ATC-LTC or ATC-VITC
  • ST 2110: Selectable Audio Analyzer Flow Modes 1 x 80 Channels or 2 x 64 Channels.
  • Improved remote operation allowing screen capture while running VNC
  • Reordering of Instrument Presets in Preset Bar

And finally, the QxL can now generate and analyze 10- and 12-bit PsF ST 2110-20 formats.
