Wirelessly Stream Audio with the WL64-4 by Nixer

Launching at IBC 2023, the WL64-4 by Nixer is a unique AoIP unit designed to facilitate wireless audio streaming for multiple operators.

This audio over IP “base” unit simplifies audio monitoring and mixing for live events, reality TV, and more. Multiple audio operators can now monitor and mix the same sources from a Dante or Ravenna network.

The WL64-4 connects wirelessly to four iPad® tablets allowing each operator to select and listen to sources independently, plus create individual mixes. Add “local” pictures and source names to each audio channel in order to quickly identify the audio source.

The WL64-4 will officially release at IBC (15-18 September, RAI Amsterdam, Nixer stand 8.F93) alongside the enhanced Nixer Remote App.

Applications include:

  • Sports Broadcasting
  • Reality TV and Game Shows
  • Live Events Broadcasting
  • Live Conference Broadcasting
  • Education Streaming – University Hospitals and Language Schools

Nixer Releases RLC64 Compact Digital AoIP Monitoring Solution

Nixer introduces the RLC64 compact digital AoIP audio monitoring unit. It is designed for broadcasters operating in outside broadcast (OB)/live production environments as they move to IP infrastructures.

This 1U dual-purpose confidence monitor and audio mixing engine has a depth of just 120mm, making it ideal for IP-based OB vehicle and flyback installations. Thanks to the reduced depth, it also fits into desktop workstations.

Shipping now, the RLC64 replaces the current RL64, featuring the same front display, interface and speakers

RLC64 Features

  • Compact 1RU enclosure (120mm deep)
  • Same intuitive operation & interface as the RL64
  • Dante & Ravenna versions available

Nixer Displays RS32 AoIP Change-Over Switch & RP64 Patch Panel

Nixer launched their RS32 Audio over IP change-over switch and their RP64 (64 in, 64 out) digital AoIP patch panel at IBC 2022.

Nixer_RS32andRP64_IBC_TEVIOS

Simple and intuitive to operate, the RS32 provides 32 individual 2-by-1 change-over switches. Each switch has two inputs that can be routed to any one output. The switches can be ganged together in order to create a maximum 32-pole switch. The RS32 is designed for quick reassignment of critical audio sources in the event that a main source fails, making it easy to seamlessly route to a backup device.

The RP64 is a 64 Dante input to 64 Dante output digital patchbay. Connect any Dante input to any Dante output thanks to the intuitive interface. Effortlessly re-patch critical signals without the use of a laptop with Dante controller. When re-patching with RP64, it is near instantaneous.

Both the RS32 and the RP64 share the same compact 1RU enclosure. They can be powered via PoE on the primary Dante port. Plus, a DC input offers power redundancy, while a secondary RJ45 port ensures network redundancy.

Nixer also highlighted their existing product range at IBC 2022:

  • PD Dante: portable AoIP monitoring & diagnostics tool
  • RD Dante: quality assurance monitoring  & engineering positions
  • PLR64K: 2 channel Dante monitor
  • RL64: 64 channel AoIP monitor – now with Ravenna!
  • RL256 Series: 4 base models offering up to 256 channels of mixed Dante & Ravenna in a single 1RU frame

Dejero Intercom with Dante Virtual Soundcard

Dejero Intercom allows for two-way audio communication between an EnGo 260 mobile transmitter and a WayPoint 50/104 receiver in real time! Thanks to the Dante Virtual Soundcard, use audio over an IP connection.

Dejero_Intercom_flow_TEVIOS

The Intercom feature is available once the Dejero EnGo 260 is ready to transmit or when transmitting live. To use the feature, the Logitech H390 headset must be connected to the EnGo, otherwise audio won’t be transmitted. Once the headset is properly connected, audio meters appear on the EnGo preview screen.

Remember, Intercom works independently of one-way IFB. This allows for an IFB channel for talent and a two-way Intercom channel for the camera operator.

AVT Integrates Ravenna module

Just as most AVT systems have the software-based AES67 integration and the Dante module, now the RAVENNA module is available on select AVT systems!

AVT_magicthippro_RavennaIntegration_TEVIOS

Offering the Ravenna solution provides users the best possible integration in their studio environments. Integration into large AoIP networks is significantly simplified, thanks to the new module’s support of the NMOS specifications for Discovery & Registration and Device Connection Management.

Currently, the MAGIC RAVENNA module is available on the VoIP telephone hybrid system MAGIC THipPro. Once the module is equipped, 32 x 32 additional audio channels are available via IP, which can then be distributed to up to 32 network streams. Plus, continue to utilize the analogue and digital audio interfaces of the MAGIC THipPro.

Soon the Quad DAB+ Encoder MAGIC AE4 and the DAB Ensemble Multiplexer MAGIC DABMUX plus will also include the MAGIC RAVENNA module.

In order to guarantee high compatibility with other systems, the AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110-30/31 standards are also supported.

Finally, integrated stream redundancy for all ST 2022-7 classes effectively prevents interruptions in the audio signal caused by network problems.

Mix & Match Dante and Ravenna ports on Nixer RL Series

The RL Series 1U Rack Mount AoIP Monitoring Tool & Mixer by Nixer allows users to mix & match Dante and Ravenna ports on the same unit.

Nixer_RL256_Ravenna_TEVIOS

For instance, use 1 Dante port and 1 Ravenna port on an RL 128. Or use two of each on the RL256. However, it’s not mandatory to mix & match. Simply use all Dante or Ravenna ports in a single rack unit product.

The new RL Series concept offers four different models: RL64, RL128, RL192 and RL256. Each model has two modes of operation, mixing and listening. Mix up to 256 channels at 48kHz (128 channels at 96kHz), plus microphone input and AES input. Listen by selecting a channel and routing to the LR output.
